In 2007 we built vision software for Amcor, the packaging group, that was later taken into the research and development operation of a major international food manufacturer. The tools are far cheaper now; the discipline of making them reliable on a real line has not changed.

Connecting production data with the systems the office runs on: ERP, stock, orders, invoicing. Removing the manual handoffs, paper records and spreadsheet reconciliation between the two. Tim's first technical work was interfacing CAD/CAM systems with machine tools; the problem has changed shape, not nature.

Tim Winstanley began as an electronic engineer, and his first software work was on the factory side: interfacing CAD/CAM systems with machine tools and replacing paper-tape readers with electronics that emulated them. He has been writing software since 1993.
