Something in the business isn't working as well as it should

Sometimes the problem is obvious: too much manual admin, systems that do not talk to each other, or software that does not fit.

Sometimes it is less obvious. Everyone is busy, work gets done, but nobody can quite explain where the time is going.

We help work out what is actually happening, then decide whether the answer is process change, software, AI, automation, better information, or nothing technical at all.

Where the time actually goes

This is not broad management consultancy. We work where people, information, software, systems and technology meet, which is where a surprising amount of hidden cost in a small business can sit.

How the work really flows

We look at what people actually do, not what the procedure manual says they do. Where a job starts, who touches it, where it waits, and where it quietly falls through.

Where the information lives

Information flow, and the knowledge trapped in people. The questions that can only be answered by asking someone are the ones that stop everything when that someone is away.

What your own data says

Analysis of the records you already keep: tickets, jobs, emails, timesheets, invoices. Real data tests what everyone assumes, and it is usually more surprising than the assumption.

Hidden work

Context recovery, re-keying, chasing, duplicated effort and workarounds. Real work, all of it, and almost none of it appears on any report.

Software that doesn't fit

The systems people work around rather than with, the licences paid for and barely used, and the product that does a thousand things when you need twenty of them done well.

What to build, and what not to

Automation and software opportunities, weighed honestly against the cases where the fix is a different process, better information capture, or an off-the-shelf tool.

Investigate, improve, then build if building is the answer

Sometimes the first job is not automating a process. It is working out why the process is difficult in the first place.

1

Investigate

We gather observations, records and questions before jumping to a diagnosis. AI helps us hold all that evidence together and look for patterns across it without forcing an answer too early.

2

Improve

Decide what should change, and in what order: the process, how information is captured, the software, an automation, or nothing technical at all. You get a plain account of the trade-offs.

3

Build

Where software, automation or AI is the answer, we build it, integrate it with what you already run, and support it afterwards. Bespoke software →

We tested this on ourselves first

We thought we were too busy to take on new AI and software work. So we pointed AI at our own operations, kept logs, and tested what we found against 2,000 of our own tickets going back to 2011. Depending on how we measured it, recorded utilisation came out somewhere between 17 and 25 per cent. Separately, only one ticket in four contained enough context for somebody else to pick the work up without asking questions. It was not simply a workload problem. It was an information problem.

Where it can lead

Something to build

When the answer is software, automation or an integration, we build it ourselves using AI-assisted development, with an experienced developer overseeing it.

Bespoke Software →

AI, used properly

Strategy, training and implementation for businesses that want to use AI on real work, not stop at a chat window.

Not sure which

Most people aren't. A free 20-minute conversation about the problem is the right place to start, and working out the answer is part of it.

Start with the problem, not the technology

If part of your business is taking too much time, creating too much friction, or simply feels harder than it should, that is enough to start with. Twenty minutes, no sales pitch, and you'll leave knowing whether there is a sensible next step.
